Oracle Database Administrator
As an Oracle Database Administrator at Tagged you will work in a team environment to provide database operation and development support of our 24x7 high transaction volume business. We routinely run 10,000 statements per second against a small pool of Linux servers, and our users demand access to the social networking service around the clock.
You will be responsible for day to day management, monitoring, and performance tuning of multiple production and development databases. Planning for high availability, backup, and recovery will also be part of your responsibilities. You will be called upon to perform production troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, and will interface with Oracle support and other vendors as necessary.
Specific additional tasks include monitoring resources such as disk, memory, and CPU utilization, collecting historical data, and providing detailed projections of future needs. You will also identify tuning opportunities in SQL and PL/SQL code and assist software developers in writing efficient code for new features.
This position requires a strong sense of ownership and commitment to your role on the team.
Minimum Qualifications - must have:
* Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Oracle 10g/9i DBA
* Ability to troubleshoot performance issues under pressure
* Experience in database performance tuning, monitoring, and SQL tuning
* Experience in logical and physical database design
* In-depth knowledge of RMAN
* PL/SQL programming
* Unix/Linux Shell Scripting
* Experience with enterprise Manager/Grid Control
* Knowledge of ASM
* Willingness to provide off-hours and on-call support
* Excellent communication and analytical skills
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or similar discipline, or equivalent experience
Additional Qualifications - nice to have:
* Experience in database planning, scaling, and capacity planning activities
* Experience with data warehousing
* Experience with Oracle on Linux
* OCP Certification
* 5+ years of professional software development experience
