Description:

Specific Duties Include:

• Ensures all laundry is regularly removed from living areas.

• Checks items for damage or stains and ensures all clothing is labelled.

• Carries out small repairs to clothing as required.

• Sorts items by colour, size, fabric type and appropriate cleaning process.

• Treats stains using appropriate products prior before processing.

• Finishes articles by drying, pressing and folding.

• Returns all clean linen, ensuring linen cupboards are neat and tidy at all times.

• Returns all clean clothing to Service Users and ensures they are neatly stored in their rooms.

• Ensures the laundry area remains clean and tidy at all times and carries out routine cleaning and maintenance of laundry equipment, reporting any faults or maintenance requirements.

• Ensures adequate stocks of laundry and cleaning products are available at all times.

These duties are not exhaustive. Job holders may be asked to undertake other responsibilities, within their spheres of responsibility and competence.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of washing instructions / guidelines

• Operation of washing / drying / pressing equipment.

• Basic needlework skills.

• COSHH / Health and Safety.
